Hey Jez

I have the ES 300h, F-sport, and loving it.  Previous Lexus was the GS 300h.

Yes, they are both motorway animals, and yes, I live in a side street. I don't care. Lovin' it !

Jez;

I don't know about the 'one long gear or multiple gears' thing - I'm the wrong guy to answer that question.

However, my understanding is that all Lexus cars have a CVT gearbox these days and all Lexus cars are hybrid.

Does that help?

Ian

Hi Ian and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Nice car you have in the ES300h. Yes your car has CVH as the engine etc is lifted from the is300h of which I've had 2. To be honest and I'm surprised by my findings that my is250 is a much nicer car. Must be the V6 and 'proper auto box'

You do the ES a great disservice there. It has a completely different and much more modern engine compared to the IS300h and is combined with a newer generation of hybrid system and CVT transmission.

Really Colin? I read a review of the ES300h very soon after its launch and its the only review I've read but it did state the engine was lifted from the is300h.

I don't do any disservice to any Lexus car knowingly. So I sit corrected with regards the newer generation of hybrid system and CVT trans. Thanks for the correction 👍

Lazy journalism then I guess. The current generation ES uses the A25A-FXS engine, one of the new Toyota Dynamic Force engines.

If the review was the old ES300h, not sold in the UK, then that uses the 2AR-FXE engine, as found in the NX300h. Similar to the 2AR-FSE engine used in the IS300h but lacks direct-injection which is why the NX is less powerful and less efficient than the IS.
