Windscreen!!! Nooo

Recommended Posts

What rotten luck! Can damage be repaired or does it mean a new screen?  Must say I tolerated a repair on an old car but always aware that it had been repaired.  It may need a new screen if crack is too extensive and one is always wary of how well this will be done, perhaps involving Lexus in need.

Try to get it looked at by a competent windscreen repair person as soon as possible - the success or otherwise of a repair is significantly influenced by how soon it's done, so I've been LED to believe.

Don't know whether you're a member on PistonHeads forum, but there's someone there who goes by the name of Glassman who is very generous with advice, and has a mobile service somewhere near London, I think.

Personally, I'd try to avoid a replacement screen if at all possible - especially these days with all the gubbins attached to them, which may need accurate recalibration afterwards.

A windscreen repairer told me to stick a piece of cellotape over it as soon as you can to keep dirt and rain out until it can be repaired.

That’s useful advice. Thanks for sharing.
