Lexus 5yrs manufacturer warranty (excluding Lexus Relax)

Hello,

I have been discussing this topic elsewhere but it took me by surprise.

How many of you are aware Lexus cars manufactured prior to June 2021 remain eligible for a 5yrs manufacturer warranty, like Toyota? Read below

https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-warranty-how-it-works/

I am having work done on my car under the same warranty but following a comment by an experienced poster on these forums, I am curious to know if there is much awareness on the forums about this level of cover.

I ordered before June 1st '21 and picked up end of June. I was under the impression, from the dealer, that it was 3 years. Thanks for posting., it's quite clear in black and white that it's order date rather than pickup.

That's a typo on the Lexus website. Toyota's used to have a 5 year warranty but this changed to 3 years when Relax came in for Lexus and Toyota. Someone messed up on the website (probably cut and paste from the Toyota info).

The article referred to is  an example of lazy cut and paste journalism. Lexus only ever came with a 3 year warranty. If they didn't, they've been selling us all extended warranties under false pretences!

Another example of its inaccuracies is:

"This new warranty covers the same parts and labour as the three-year manufacturer’s warranty provided on new Lexus vehicles and the one-year manufacturer warranty that’s standard with approved used vehicles."

It doesn't, there are a whole load of exclusions, if you don't believe me. go and read the Relax T's and C's.

Hello people,

an update on this pose.

For those of you who are keen to look into this further, here are the terms and conditions.

If it is a “typo”, it’s the most elaborate one that I have seen to date. (It’s most likely not a typo).

It's a mistake - someone has wrongly cut and paste that from the Toyota document. Toyota used to have 5 year warranty whilst Lexus had 3. When Relax came in Toyota then moved to 3 year warranty which is what the document refers to with the dates. How the mistake would stand up in a court of law is another matter of course though most of these docs claim E&OE.
