Starting issue only when very cold

I have a slight issue in that when it gets down to approx - 2 and below my is 220d struggles to start and can take 5 /6 attempts at turning over.  I have tried the priming button but not sure it actually worked after activating it last time as didn't hear it, is this common, any advise.

It's a 2007 and done 145000, with no real issues.

Could be glow plugs not functioning properly?

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick,

did you get this problem sorted, I've just seen it now.

I think the glow plugs could be part of the problem if they've never been changed.

I had to change my glow plugs on my Avensis, with the 2AD FTV version of the 2.2 engine, I think I changed them at 150000 miles.

You could have a good point there. I was in Norway in 1972 and when it was cold (it can be cold there) diesel engines needed help to start. Extra Battery.
