Hi I have just bought a LS 430 2005 model. It has 67,000 miles on the clock and I have completed the advisory new timing belt / water pump. The car is a USA LHD import. It’s perfect for me as I bought the car with the intention of doing some long distance road trips around Europe.

I have a small issue and that is the rear door locks manually but will not open and lock as part of the central locking. I am told I need a door lock motor ( rear left hand door ) and I should find one on eBay. I look on eBay and see door lock motors for as little as £6 to  around £300. As a new Lexus owner, I have no idea of which motor I need. Can anyone advise me please or better still send me a link to the one I need to purchase.

Thank you so much for your help

Hi Robert and welcome to the LOC.

To be honest the motors can be replaced ( I even have some as done a few myself) but you need to solder them in, beware of flying springs and get covered in grease.

Probably the best option is to buy a complete actuator unit, there are several on eBay or try Paul Frost who breaks LS models.

They are a bit of a pain to get out as obstructed by the door glass guide but doable with care.
