Hi DanP, there are 2 very current threads running on the NX pages: 'NX 450h Security' and 'Ghost 2 immobiliser not yet!' Some of the content refers to the newer models but older content does refer to older models and what people recommend. As Ray says, if they really want your car, they'll find a way and each preventative measure has its own pluses and minuses. For example, you could fit an immobiliser but if the thief doesn't know its fitted (or doesn't believe it), he could cause a lot of damage - but you would probably still have your car. A steering wheel lock is an old-school, visual deterrent for not a lot of money. A tracker might help with recovery but might not prevent your vehicle being stolen in the first place.

If you’re a competent DIYer, this might appeal.

It’s a simple hidden kill switch that isolates the fuel pump.  So the engine will churn over but will never fire up.  It’s highly unlikely that any car thief is going to hang around to try and diagnose the problem.

Or call out the AA.

This, in conjunction with a visible deterrent - a Stoplock or a Milenco - really only leaves putting the car onto a trailer.

Consider installing a GPS tracking device in your car. In case of theft, this can help authorities locate and recover your vehicle.

Not if the car is stored in a shipping container, unless you go for a Thatcham approved VHF enabled unit
