IS200 Where are the Drains?

I have a leaking problem. Dripping into passenger footwell. First inspection is that it is rain water in the heater system. It is held there after it rains and then keeps dripping out after each corner is taken as you drive along. Can anyone tell me where all the drain holes are?

Rain water shouldn't enter the cabin, it would run down the windscreen and into the scuttle panel and drain away at the sides within the engine bay area, not the cabin. You would need to remove the wipers and cowling to inspect if water is draining correctly and clear out any debris from the drains.

I'd inspect your windscreen to make sure there isn't any corrosion on the frame that has compromised the bonding - this is a more likely source of water into the cabin.

The other source of fluid (coolant rather than rain water) on the IS200/300 is a failure of the cabin heating matrix which would need to be replaced or holes repaired.

Could be a windscreen replacement problem(check and see if you have a lexus stamped one)as I remember there were issues with some non lexus ones prone to leaking, lights staying on etc as I had to change the one on my IS200 many years ago and specifically requested for a lexus stamped one as a result of the known issues.

Thanks Scudney & Colinbarber, my garage man that I go to regularly has said we need to replace the windscreen next -- but he has given it a good looking at and is not so opptomistic that it is the screen. It does seem to have to be very strong windy rain or when the car is driven that rain gets in. It is rain not coolant. Thanks again

The reason for my post was I wondered if there are drains we have not found.

Windscreen leaking, corroding the fuse box and making headlights turn on when the car was off has been reported several times here in the past. Normally this was from a poorly fitted replacement screen but given the age you may find original bonding starting to fail etc.

The plastic membrane behind the passenger door card could be ripped and allow water into the cabin.

If you have a sunroof then the drain pipe might be blocked or split which can leak into the passenger footwell:

Purchased some strimmer wire and tried the sunroof. Only saw two drain holes at the front. On the drivers side the strimmer wire went in fine. on the passenger side it stops at 1.64m (64") which is a long way and whilst it is stuck there it is possible to pour water in and it exits not getting blocked, or appearing inside the car.
