2020 UX250h delayed unlocking issue

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have an issue with my 2020 UX250h where the car will not unlock immediately after pressing the button on the fob, it has a delay of 2-3 seconds and it is consistent.

This started after going into the dealer to fix a rattle in which they had the dashboard out. They're aware of it and attempting to fix it, but they're coming up short on what's causing it.

I was wondering if anyone else has heard of or suffered from this issue and what the fix was?

I have tried new fob batteries in both fobs, disconnecting and reconnecting the 12v Battery, Lexus tried recoding the keys, and nothing has worked so far. They're now sending diagnostics back to the top Lexus techs to troubleshoot.

Any help welcome.

Thanks

Andy

Are you only using the vehicle occasionally? I recall reading in the manual that if you don't use the car for over 4 (?) days it can take a little longer for the key to negotiate with the vehicle when unlocking it.

This is only for smart entry, not pressing the fob buttons. After 5 days the vehicle reduces the frequency in which it transmits a signal to find a key to save Battery life.

It will always be listening to receive a signal sent from the key when a button is pressed.

Hi Andy

There is an option (on the UX with the updated multimedia) to select the drivers door unlocking immediately, and then the other doors a few seconds later if you are still touching the handle.  Is this what is happening?

So the dealer fixed this problem today. It turns out there is a "double locking ECU" which had been disconnected when they had the dashboard apart and they had forgotten to plug back in. All resolved now and it's unlocking instantly again. It took a week for them to find this after backwards and forwards with head Lexus technicians!

Sadly, the rattle they're trying to find is still present.

In any case, thank you for everyone's responses.
