Driver's Wing Mirror

Guys,

Over the last few days i've noticed my offside wing mirror has not been opening properly. now it's completely goosed.

When in the closed position, i press the button to open the mirror, the mirror opens half way then stops altogether. To open it fully i have to close it, re-open it and then gentle encourage it open using my hand.

I've tried spraying WD40, no use, still the same.

Any ideas on how to fix it would be appreciated and if it means i need a complete new unit what would the cost be

Cheers

PB

a good soak overnight with penetrating oil etc  and then  move it by hand to free it up a bit, the motors dont need a lot to stop working.

Cheers, i'll try that as well. i've a very clean car but the power hose hasn't fixed it. i'll soak it in oil over night and try it again in the morning.

mine got stuck a while ago, and had to give it a really good spray and let it soak in overnight i then worked it back forward for about 5 mins then it was fine after that.

its prob happened this time of year with the use of the salt on the road also.

Mine has not been working for a week either. Car is filty however (YES...no need to comment :P ) so if the jet washing doesn't work what is this "penetrating oil" I should use to get the wing mirror to open and close properly? Just WD40?

Another thing I've been wondering - does WD40 or De-Icer damage paintwork? I mean incase it runs and gets on the paint.
