Very true... I just feel sorry for the workers!!! It seems that the only thing we make in the UK is "redundancies".

It is a sad day. MG had started to make some good cars. The mg ZT Tourer was cracking. Wouldn't have minded the V8 version myself. We should have chuckced them a big fat subsidy to develop new cars. The French would have done it. Why not us? When pueogoet closes their car plant in the uk and others relocate to eastern europe who will keep our manufacturing base alive? We need a manufactuting base of critical mass to maintain this skills for new industys defence etc. :tsktsk:

I am a free-marketer but theres nothing free market about manufacturing. First the trains , now the cars. We'll end up making nothing in this country. Then we'll be stuffed. When the next war happens who'll have the skills to build anything? It takes a generation to train a workforce.
