Choice of Fuel

A recent posting raised the question of Octane ratings. I have a '95 GS300 do I use 95 or 98 rated fuel. The handbook does not help much as it just says 'use fuel rated at 95 or greater' (or words to that effect)

Does using fuel rated at 98 Octane give any significant improvement?:?:

It should make a difference - the greater the burn rate, the better the performance of the fuel, and the more mileage you'll get.

I believe Optimax is the only 98ron petrol available, all other unleaded is 97ron.

I've done some experimenting with my IS -

Supermarket petrol (ugh), I get about 320 out of a tank. Unleaded, I get about 340 out of a tank and Optimax, I've just got 380 miles out of a rank. The overall performance feels faster too.

I always run mine on at least super unleaded and deffo notice a difference when I have to put normal unleaded in there

Best of all is Optimax - make my car run really well.

When I'm in Europe - you can get 98Ron everywhere - deffo noticeable performance increase.

I always run my IS200 on Optimax

When I'm knocking around in old Orion 1.8 Ghia I stick any type of unleaded in because whatever I shove in it,it runs like a bag of doo doo
