Spark Plugs (again)

Got my IS serviced on a 60k yesterday, the car doensn't feel any different. I want to check that the plugs were changed.

If I take the air intake off can I remove the covers on the plugs and will I be able to tell if they're new?

Yeah, whip off the cover. and pull the leads off the top.

if they are still fairly clean, they would have been changed. if in doubt, pop one out and look at the deposit on the firing end.....

not realy, as they are quite deep in. car wont feel amazingly different unless your old plugs were in a bad way.

What plug codes do i need if i wanted some.How much are they roughly? Has anyone tried NGK or bosch ones. Thanks

there more than like iridium plugs? hence for, expensive.

i got a set of splitfire performance plugs for £48 plus vat!?!?!?!

I heard ngk do them according to their website

The Denso iridium are code IK20 for the IS200 or IK22 for turbo/SC IS200 or IK16 for the IS300

Check US eBay - can get these for a bargain price

IK20 are uprated plugs and need to be changed every 30,000 miles.

Make sure you want these or otherwise stick with the plug stated in the owners manual

Only the Denso iridium power plugs (IK series) need to be changed every 30k. The standard ones need replacing every 60k.

Thanks Colin, I bought the denso iridum power ones off eBay as recommended so I'll have to change them at 90k.
