Sat Nav Screen Keeps Changing Colour

Sat Nav screen Keeps changing colour

I have seen all the messages about getting a new ribbon cable from CPC.co.uk and even took my Sat Nav system apart to send them a photo of the cable as it doesn’t have a part number on it. As CPC was unable to match the cable, has anyone managed to purchase a replacement cable from anyone?

If so could you please send me a part number and supplier?

Thanks Jo

Did you try and clean the ribbon with appropriate solution?

I assume you've asked your Lexus dealer if they can supply the cable separately?

Yes, but after I put the cable back in it works its way loose after a while.

I have sent an email to Lexus customer service and am awaiting a reply.

could you use a touch of hotglue to hold the ribbon in place?

This is the reply from Lexus Uk customer care.

Dear Mr Webster

Thank you for your recent enquiry with regards the problems you have experienced with your satellite navigation system on you Lexus IS 200.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a technical diagnosis to the particular problems highlighted in your correspondence. We would therefore ask that you consult with your nearest Lexus Centre as they are best placed to offer the technical advise and expertise your require in order to investigate and answer the questions you raise.

I can confirm that having spoken to our Technical Department at Lexus (GB) Ltd we are unaware of any major issues with the satellite navigation system on our cars. Historically, I would clarify that Lexus do not supply individual components for the satellite navigation and that it is usually provided as one single unit.

In closing, I would like to thank you once again for bringing your concerns to our attention. I would strongly recommend that you car is looked at by a Lexus Centre who may then be in a position to liaise with Lexus (GB) on your behalf.

If you have any enquiries or require any further information please contact me on 01737 367601 (telephone) or 01737 367721 (facsimile) or at customer.relations@lgb.lexus.co.uk.

Yours sincerely

Stephen Hinshelwood

Lexus (GB) Ltd :crybaby:

I contacted my local dealer and they were unable to help. So now I’m going to ask, what they do with all the old units that are broken, as they only seem to swap out the whole unit.

Watch this space.

Interesting..look forward to their response  ;)

I was told by Lexus customer services that the old units get sent away for repair by Lexus. So I then asked for contact info for the people who repair them for Lexus and was told that they only deal with Lexus and not individual Lexus customers. So finally I was advised to go to the breakers and look for the part.

So if any else has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Jo

Hi,

This is my first time on this forum and would like to say hi to all of you. I have a lexus is200 se with Sat Nav. For the last couple of years the Sat Nav has worked flawlessly, until a few weeks ago. The sat nav on's and off's. It comes on for a while, then goes off completely. If I'm lucky it might stay on and work perfectly for a whole journey, or sometimes it just does not come on at all!

I went to my local lexas garage- They told me that I needed to replace my sat nav screen-£1000

I then went to another lexas garage- They told me I needed to replace the cd rom reader in my sat nav- £1000

It seems that both garages are just giving me the cost of replacing the whole system. However I believe that theres just a loose wire within the system.

Could someone please tell me how to open my sat nav system, so I can see if what the lexus garages said was true, or whether i need to connect two wires together?

Also if anyone knows what the problem might be, I would much appreciate his/her help.

Regards

Sahal

Another Sat Nav problem.

My the Nav system on my (1999) IS200 has exhibited the same problem as the rest of you for a while now. When under warranty I repeatedly got it looked at at each service but after some time the colour casting reappeared.

I can just about live with it but will try the cable clean and re-insert routine that has worked for others.

Recently though, I have a new problem with the "show POI options". Essentially I always display petrol stations on the map. However for one trip I needed to see car parks so I switched over to this display.

Now it won't switch back to petrol stations. Every time I move the joystick right to the "Show POI" option the system reboots and returns to the welcome screen.

I have removed and re-inserted the CD-Rom, disk doesn't appear to be damaged in any way. It is really frustrating. Its about to be booked in for a 100K service so I'll get Lexus to look at it, but I am keen to get a heads up from anyone else that may have experienced this.

I also have a 99Vreg is200, and my screen keeps changing colour too.  I'm having my local dealer look into it, as it's under warranty still.  I'll post the results here when I get anything back.

Adam.

Hi, i have a 98 T Reg, how long is it under warrenty for.

My screen as of late has started to turn a dark purple colour, im not technically minded so i dare not start messing around cleaning cables etc.

i opted for a different approach, i whacked the back of the screen and wiggled it around and it seems to have solved the problem for the time being.

also where is the cd for the sat nav stored because every now and again i get CD-Rom unreadable message albeit it is v rarely happens
