Exhaust Bit!

Recommended Posts

Hey all.

Looking about under the car the other day and ive been thinking off getting the prolex Hi Flow performance cat.

Then i saw after that there is another section of pipe that goes from the cat back to my kazama pipe. It has a big section in the middle and i havent got a clue what it is, could it be another cat, expansion chamber, silencer or somehting i dont know about.

What i want to know is can i take that bit of pipe out and put in a straight through piece of pipe, the only bummer is its got a sensor (or somehting that looks like a sensor) right at the begining of the piece of pipe.

Let me know what you think

Cheers

that is the centre silencer, it can be removed, but it wont make much difference, the is200 exhaust is quite free flowing as it is, the rear box being the biggest restriction.

the only difference it will make is to the note of the exhaust

basically the German post says.

"...to get a better note, cut open the centre box, remove wadding , weld back up, re-install, then sit down, Drink lots of beer and eat sausages.."

safety equipment required

".....knee long leather pants, and a hat with a feather sticking out..."

hope that helps

Easier:

Push a well-fitting tube (as long as the mid-section) into the mid-section and wedge it with some slugs (or whatever is suitable). Rebuild exhaust system.

Drink beer before.

or as suggested, remove canister all together...which leads back to point one....
