Water Pump

Just searched and found out the pump is £90.

How can I tell if it's leaking - can't see any red water leaks anywhere! I've looked down at the cover under the fans and there's no water - any help much appreciated!

BTW, i'm going on what the dealer told me today - could it be aircon condensation? They did say it was red though!

I think I paid something similar for mine as it was replaced recently mate, I think I may have paid a bit more than that though - think it was something like 170 quid from the top of my head plus four hours labour but honestly can't remember... Total bill was something like 900 for the 80k service

Also, what milage are you at pal?

I had the cam belt done at the same time as they have access to that when they replace the water pump - may be something for you to bear in mind pal as the belt only costs 20 quid or something and it needs doing at 100k anyway so you can share the cost of labour between two items.....

Cheers guys, as always helpful!

Will I see the water on the road or does it get caught on the cover under the engine?

The water level has been going low lately, topped it up today and will see what happens. This must have only started last couple of weeks as it got serviced at 60k in June!

Gord, I'll PM you when I get round to sorting it - will make it worth your while of course ;-)

Thanks again.

Spoken to steve for you, he says the water pump starts off with little drops that dry red as your coolant is red :D you might not see any under your car as its only just started, thats pro what lexus have seen, it will get worse over time, you have to take all the coves off to get at it :hehe: so for the extra £20-£25 for the cam belt you might as well have it done to, but thats up to you :hehe: if you get your own parts he can do both for you for £90-£100 or he can get the parts, he live's in runcorn so he can pick your car up and leave you with his if thats any help :D drop me pm if you want it sorting :D
