I am a new member having just purchased a 1996 LS400 last week.What a car!! Only problem is to find a cheapish car insurance quote.

Anyone out there with any good contacts? :D

A lot of the guys have had good quotes from Tesco, but a good site to try is http://www.confused.com they search through a lot of insurers for you and can give you a quote within 20 mins normally.

Give quotezone car insurance a try as well - they have a couple of companies that dont seem to be on confused at the moment i think.

Tesco for me, Tried about 6 people and Tesco were best. I paid £530.00 for an LS430 me and the other half to drive fully comp etc etc and that was with 10,000 miles business use.

Have you tried lexus themselves, they got me FC on a gs300 sport for only 400 £

I am now after reading this thread happy with my insurance, I am paying 600 quid a year for my ls400 I have just turned 25 with 4 years NCB (protected) I did think this was high but it seems very good !

My insurance is with norwich union

I have recently renewed my 1998 LS400 via the www.screentrade.co.uk and paid £317.00 inc N.C.B protection (9 years N.C.B.) although I did have a minor shunt 3 years ago - not with the Lexus- this is for social and domestic I am 70years old - 7500 declared annual miles and I live in North Cambs - this may help.

Saga was looking good for the over 50s but fell at last fence.

Would only insure it with tracker fitted.

I am with Firebond gave me 3 years no claims (didn't have to) comes out at £540 fc inc. commute. 10,000 miles.

Tesco with 0 no claims were around £900+

Just stick with the large insurance companies. You may find though that after the first year they hike the premium up and hope you won't notice, but can normally get it back to a reasonable level after a bit of haggling. (You normally have to threaten to change insurers before they will do this.) I'm currently with Direct Line who gave a very competitive quote, the only trouble I had [with them] was determining exactly what they meant by an 'approved' immobilizer. For some reason they didn't consider the factory system to be good enough! It was only after some badgering that they explained that it had to be Thatcham cat. 2 or above.

Whatever you do, AVOID the backstreet insurance boys - the premiums might be cheap, but I've witnessed on more than one occasion their practice of taking the money and not buying the insurance on your behalf. Their reluctance to issue a certificate (as opposed to just a cover note) until all installments are paid is always a giveaway. Be warned!
