Blown Speakers?

Recommended Posts

I have an IS 200 SE (1999). I can barely get the bass setting past level 2 before the speakers start to pop. I know that year of IS 200 are bass heavy, but this is definately an inferior sound.

I've had one dealer look at it with no joy. Another is due to look at it this Thursday.

I'm wondering if it could be the brake light mounting that's vibrating against the rear screen.

Would like to hear from anyone else having similar experience.

The high level break light on the 99 IS200 is a bit of untypically bad engineering from Lexus. Its only a clipped together arrangement that really isn't that clever. It comes out quite easily by lifting the front most edge and sliding towards the centre of the car. You may find that it either isn't clipped together correctly or has come a bit loose. This may account for the distortion.

also check the rods which assist the boot lid in opening as these are a common source of vibration - it also helps if u have the ski hatch open.
