I'm New ! Hello !

Thanks for the reply.

Was hoping I wasnt going to get told that, but ok - seems I have to think otherwise!?

The reason I want low miles is that cars I've had to date (ESPECIALLY my current Escort) have all been high maintenance cars. Don't get me wrong - I've enjoyed my Escort tremendously, but to worry that it will break every time you turn the key isn't too reassuring, and spending 000's on it when things go wrong is very difficult to keep doing. So the reason I look for low (relatively) miles is to not have to worry about those issues.

Better way to put it then.....are >50,000mile IS200 sports still fairly reliable? I understand they have a good build quality, so am I (relatively) safe getting myself a standard nicely looked after model?

Obviously the one thing I will miss is the speed - and the attention - but slowly and surely I need a more realistic car and I love the looks of an IS200!

Thanks again for your comments, and here's to me learning more!

An IS200 will run like it's new with 50000 miles on it - in fact it will probably run like new with 150000 miles - remember it's Japanese (Reliability comes as standard).

And you will get noticed in the IS - People still turn their heads when you drive by.

I went down to my nearest dealer at the weekend and took out a V 99 Granite Sky Is200se, 52k, £13495. VERY nice car. I liked the way it drove, the feel of it, and I am even more keen on the car now.

The one thing I might not want to do is get a car with 50-60k miles on it, as that 60k service will only be a short time round the corner. Worth thinking about that I guess.

I'm still considering other cars (nowhere near the same price range), but do really like the Lexus - and the dealer's approach and attitude towards me (I'm only 22, and quite often dealers don't take me seriously, even though I drive in a car often worth more than the car I'm looking at !!!).

Thanks again for all your comments.......I'm still learning, and still thinking hard !!!

Tony
