Where Oh Where To Put The Hands Free Phone Kit On Is220/250?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone please help and advise as to where they may have fitted their hands free car kit on a IS220/250. I have the car, the phone, and the h/f kit, (all Nokia). Driving around looking at the dash, (ok I should be looking at the road), I have been trying to work out where it can go for easy access, yet without obscuring the centre console, jamming the glove box shut, or putting it in the firing line of an airbag. All help, advice, and pictures if possible, gratefully received.

Thanks

I had one of these in my Audi A4 with the Nokia Cark91 kit, no holes, mess and reasonably discreet. They do ones for the armrest too, but I could not find any piccys, which is suitable for Nokia Bluetooth kits. You could then use the aux ciggy charger in the armrest!!

Try this matey (this is a good, trusted supplier which most fitting/car electronics companies use):

Dashmount Brackets

they do leather and leatherette ones too, but not yet for the IS250/220 as far as I can see (you might want to give 'em a call).

Leather Consoles

Like you could not find suitable Mounting Site so selected Bluetooth Motorola Unit that clips to the sun-visor &

allows me to place phone in the Armrest for my 10 pre-selected numbers.

Thank you Jamboo I will certainly check this out.

Thanks Tel, I'll check this out, but my company insist on a fully secured cradle, and do not "approve the use of bluetooth" they also don't condone the use of mobiles while driving, but play hell if they, or our customers/colleagues can't get hold of you, try work that one out as we can't, fleet nazis D'oh.

They don't condone the use of mobiles while driving, yet would prefer you had a fitted cradle rather than using Bluetooth?

Seems a shame to have to install a cradle on such a nice dash, but I guess you have no choice. Was quite interesting to see that it seems to install that dashmount bracket, you don't actually dismantle the dash at all....

That's right - it's the beauty of it...On my old A4, there were 2 securing 11mm bolts that held the stereo mount in place. The Dashmount had to be installed there, so that when the stereo facia was put back, you could not see any mounting for the bracket..

on the New IS, it "clips" in place without any unscrewing at all...

Dunno how solid it will be, but the Lex dash is like granite (albeit with a few loose chippings to allow for rattles!!) so the trim should hold it well...

The leather pods at least match the interior of the car...
