Automatic In Manual Mode

Recommended Posts

hi all,

I've eventually just purchased an IS200 se auto and was wondering if it is bad for the auto gearbox to run in manual mode a lot? I was reading in a thread before and it said that it will ruin the box, is this true?

I've also read a few comments about e-shift, is this only on the is300? Just wondering cause its a second hand car and will therefore have learned someone else's way of driving.

Also, does the power button simply let the engine rev out longer before changing gear? As i have not received the car yet, could anyone tell me whether there is much of a difference in the drive?

Thanks for any advice.

Hello..

I personally haven't heard any problems with continuously driving the car in 'manual mode'. However I'm pretty sure you'll get bored of doing that, and will simply leave it in 'D'. The only time I really use it is when I'm overtaking, as it drops down straight away.

E-shift can only be found on the IS300. Re-set the ECU when you pick up your car.

The power button will change down gears quicker, and change up gears at higher revs. No real difference in driving the car.

Hope you enjoy the car.. :)
