92 Ls Stereo Died - Amp Or Headunit

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My stereo worked fine until a "DIY" guy tried to install a new Battery for me. Even though he didn't admit it, I'm pretty sure he reversed the polarity when connecting up the Battery terminals. Anyhow he blew a good number of fuses and one was the stereo. I replaced both fuses - one undernetath the bonnet (Radio #1) and one above the accelerator (Radio #2) but no joy. Replacing Radio #1 brought the headunit back to life (radio lights up, scans, tape plays, ff rew etc) but no audio is coming out of the speakers. Replacing Radio #2 had no effect.

I had a cursory look and all the connectors are in on the amp (Pioneer amp, Pioneer head unit).

Anyone have anysuggestions as to which it might be - head unit or amp as I don't want to have to purchase both - is there a simple test I can do if I take the headunit or amp out to check audio in/out?

thnx

Hi,

I don't know if this will help for your model but there appears to be another fuse labeled as 10A DOME on the wiring diagram.

here is the link for the diagram

good luck with the repair,

hi guys,

Thanks for both suggestions - I'll try the fuse first and then try the Battery.

I'll post back if I get a resolution.

Cheers,

Paraic
