Remote Boot Opening?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i am new to this forum. so would be sorry if i asked a typical newbie question.

i bought a W reg IS200 SE few weeks ago. the car is just absolutely amazing. however, i found a problem that i cant open the boot by pressing the button on the remote key, means the only way to open the boot is by the paddle under the driver's seat, or use the lock barrel on the boot (which will trigger the car alarm.. :whistling: embarrassing.....)

so i am wondering how can i sort out this problem?

thx a lot~~

Probably a stupid question but are you just pressing the boot button or are you holiding it? I've just got an IS200 myself and had problems with the boot for a few days until I realised you have to hold the boot release button for about 2 secs otherwise it doesn't work.

But I presume not everyone is as stupid as me. :)

Or course it could just be that one key is knackered... also worth trying your spare if you have one.

yea.. i just tried it.. and it did work!!

thx everyone, this forum is great~

Glad it's sorted!

I presume the 2 second thingy is an intentional feature in case you accidentally knock the button while driving and the boot opens mid journey...

Apart from the boot "popping" you get no indication that it has opened when the car is locked. I assume the reason for the delay is so that you don't accidently open the boot after parking and locking the car.

i guess so

in fact that 2 buttons (unlock and boot release) are about the same size

I've had my IS 200 for about 3 weeks and this same thing caught my wife out too. The other interesting rinky-dink is that if you haven't opened the boot for a while, a vacuum is created and although the boot unlocks, it doesn't open. Go figure!!

Caught my girlfriend out, even after a year of having the car - she ended up using the actualy key itself to open the boot... then set the alarm off!!!:lol::lol:

But anyway, welcome to LOC littlewoodcn :)
