Where Can I Buy Repair Manual For Ls400 1992 Eu ?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

This is my first mail. My name's Mariusz, I'm from Poland. Last year I bought LS400 1992 European version.

I have few simple troubles but have no any repair manuals for that car.

Do you know where can I order them ? I found http://techinfo.lexus.com/, but here are only US/Canada cars (with different wiring etc)

Thank you

Regards,

Mariusz

Hi Mariusz,

First of all welcome to the forum.

The official Lexus workshop manuals ( a set of 2 I believe) may still be availiable but are expensive and 2nd hand seem to be a rare find.I have seen them on eBay in the USA but postage is expensive on top of the purchase price.

However there are many excellent Lexus brains on the forum and I am sure that if you could give some more details of your problems someone will come up with a solution or point you in the right direction.

cheers,

Steve

Mariusz,

from your web site, it looks like you have changed a piston, I'd guess you will be fine with most mechanical repairs..... if you ever suffer a failure.

By the way, why did you have to change a piston?

You can buy them on cd rom from e bay. I got a ford tis from there and is was very good as you could just print the pages you need and it will not matter if they get dirty or greasy.

It could be great idea, but all of repairs I found are for US LSes :-( There are many differences especially in wiring .. Today I spoke with Toyota Europe asking them about materials for my lexus from site http://techdoc.lexus-europe.com/ - I still waiting for answer.

Piston was changed by my mechanic who is engine specialist

I bought my car with damaged engine - garage which verified car not find this failure :-( After buying LS my mechanic checked compression and was very poor on this left first piston. After engine was open he found that someone (previous owner ?) dropped someting (iron part) into cylinder and started engine :-( Results you can see on photos - piston was bent and ring were damaged. I bought second engine (from fired LS) and my mechanic replaced damaged piston - cylinder was in good condition. After repair compression is perfect on all cylinders (the same on all) :-)

I have few problems:

1. Tail lights - from about one month I have no front lights. Markers are OK, Hi Beam I can run only as Flash. I bought new relay (under hood) and I hear it is 'clicking' when I make 'flash'. When I remove this relay and instead of it I put short (from 3cm cable) my tail light going on ! (of course then I have no control with switch). Today I checked switch (I bought second one - the same no tail lights). I'm looking for wiring diagram for tail lights

2. Poor performance of my car from low RPM - to 60mph my car need about 12 seconds !!! It is tragedy :-( I have new: time belt (properly set), spark plugs, wires, distributor caps, distributor fingers. When I connected oscilloscope to oxygen sensors I see that on the low RPM (idle) is only lean mixture, when I increase RPMs oxygen sensors works better (in full amplitude). In the same time EFI RELAY under hood is very, very HOT. I think it is a problem with oxygen sensors heater, but today I have no time to check it (also need wiring to see cable color and where I can unplug oxygen's heater closer to engine not under car). My car takes more fuel than I'm expecting. I thing all those things are related to oxygen sensors (but oxygen sensors were replaced last year !) Important - my LS have three , maybe four days where acceleration was excellent (it is in depended of weather, fuel etc).

My car is converted to LPG, but I easily can switch LPG off (there is IV generation of LPG best on the market) - this is not responsible for performance problems - I'm sure..

There are my problems which I need to solve ASAP - before LS I owned camry 3.0 and it was MUCH faster than LS :-( Should be inversely, yes ? ;-))
