Remap, Piggyback Ecu Or Fuel/air Controller?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Despite all the fun of my Blitz intake waking the neighbours up every day at 6am when I boost down my road, I am annoyed at the loss of top end power.

Essentially, since the car is sucking in far more air at high revs than the factory box, the car runs too lean at high revs.

From my research, it appears I have a few ways to get high end power back and keep the Blitz intake. I don't expect massive power gains, just want original performance back :duh: , as it takes about 30 seconds to go from 80-90mph!!!

1. remap ecu only

2. piggyback ecu & remap ecu

3. camcon unit & remap

4. greddy emanage blue/ultimate & remap

I really am confused and would welcome advice from you knowledgeable chaps who have resolved this issue in the past on your own car.

P.S Anyone heard of Thor racing? I see they do the Greedy bits and remap.

I've used Thor Racing a few times. Top guys and never had any problems with them. My mates are also getting Thor to fit / map their emanage's. They charge a set price for fitting ecu's and mapping too. Have a look on their web site and prices are on there.

As I have mentioned previously, unless you go FI the gains you will see from any of these mods will be minimal - meaning a LOT of £££ for few horses.

The most cost effective power gains will be achieved primarily from

- A decat manifold, downpipe and cat-back

secondly....

- Camcon

Easy one then....ditch the Blitz and refit the stock air box :winky:

Looks like the simple answer is to refit the stock air box for long motorway journeys and to put the Blitz back in for my regular journeys (around town up to 30-40mph).

Luvving that noise!

I found that an IS300 K&N Typhoon caused similar problems. Car sounded great, but pulled off like an absolute dog when cold. Once run around for about a minute she was okay, but not 100%. Still, my loss was Jiberjaber's gain
