98 Gs300 Se Driver's Door Lock Actuator Faulty.

Recommended Posts

Just got the radio display sorted & now the drivers side door will not lock electrically :tsktsk:

Spent the morning stripping the door down, (thanks to all on this forum & the US who have supplied useful info). Not much of a job once you know where everything is.

I can confirm that the electric solenoid is U/S, & wonder if anyone on the forum knows if this is obtainable separately, or do Lexus insist on selling the complete lock assembly?

I'll trot along to Lexus Brighton spares dept. during the week, but don't expect much help (judging by my last visit to the service dept :D )

Of course, if anyone out there has the part for sale, my wife will show her gratitude :P

The only puzzle was, having had the Battery disconnected for an hour or so, I expected to have to go through the imobilizer reprogram (Ign Switch on ACC, & leave for 6 minutes).

Wasn't necessary, car started instantly

Regards,

Max.

Thanks for the info ColinBarber, I obviously misunderstood some of the other posts (quite normal for me :D )

Thanks to Graham at my local Lexus Spares Dept., a new lock assembly was obtained & fitted (got my labour time down to 30 mins now).

The only drawback is that the part has to be purchased complete & costs £137.83 . Can't buy the actuator on its own (2 screws & 1 link to remove). Scope for an enterprising supplier?

Out of interest, I stripped the old actuator (which effectively destroys it) to find a faulty 12 Volt motor. Somewhere in the depths of my garage are old model racing car motors of far better quality :P .

So now we await the next problem (always come in threes, don't they?)

Regards,

Max.
