Rs200 New Hu Wiring

Recommended Posts

Ok so after lots of research and lots of money wasted on connectors etc just to keep the factory external amp! i think ill just re-wire the speakers

So i was thinking just to buy a new 4 channel amp, stop using the factory amp, add new 6 x9's and front speakers,(have them from the old car) and run them all off the amp. I have a 2 channel amp for the 12" Raptor. A few quick questions hopefully someone can help.

1. Can anyone recommend a good 4 channel amp. Speakers i plan to use:

InPhase XT62 240w(front) - and will they fit

Pioneer TSA 6911 330w(rear)

2. What speaker cable should i use?

3. Best place to secure amp in boot?

4. will i need a bigger Battery since ill be running 2 amps off it?

5. where can i get a 12" stealth woofer box?

6. Is there an easier way?! :hehe:

what was you trying to do in the first place if its any wiring on the soun system i found this site is good

wiring

Thanks this site only has info for is300 from 2001 on, which has different wiring. Just wanted to add a new Hu to my Rs without bypassing the external factory amp, since this gives a good sound already. But cant figure out a way to keep the factory amp in use with the new HU so i think ill just have to stop using it and upgrade the stock speakers, so i might as well replace them with better aftermarket ones and re do the wiring with better cables. I think thats easier than messing with the factory wiring, soldering and cutting stuff!

That can't be done. You can't use the factory amp with an aftermarket headunit. Thats why its no been done.

Sorry

1. Can anyone recommend a good 4 channel amp. Speakers i plan to use:

BT: It really depends on the type of music you listen to. I just bought the Clarion APA450 amp (100W max/60W RMS in 4 ohms) and I think its decent and definitely gives bang for the buck! (it only retails for around 90-100$ USD). If you want more power, then go for the 1up version I forgot the model number, I think it doubles the power figures.

InPhase XT62 240w(front) - and will they fit

Pioneer TSA 6911 330w(rear)

2. What speaker cable should i use?

BT: Not too sure. But I'd think any speaker wire is good as long as its thick enough.

3. Best place to secure amp in boot?

BT: Some folks put it underneath the liner on top of the spare tire (on a piece of MDF), some put it on the back of the rear bench. I placed my inverted on the rear deck (although some folks have told me I shouldnt do this as it may cause it to overheat), but I'm still waiting for some confirmation about this to be a fact or not, as the instruction manual says nothing about the orientation of the amp, other than "airflow".

4. will i need a bigger Battery since ill be running 2 amps off it?

BT: I think "Battery buddy" would be what you need as long as you dont run your amps while the car is off. If you are worried, then I guess install a 2nd Battery in the trunk.

5. where can i get a 12" stealth woofer box?

BT: dunno

6. Is there an easier way?! hehe.gif

BT: Yes. The way you have chosen is the easiest. I gave up way back when ... in trying to reuse the amp. After thinking a while, its just not worth it .... cos it only pumps out around 20W RMS per channel.

just get yourself a 9v Battery, some wire and some crimp connectors and about 20 mins.

Remove the two plugs coming from your amp.

Then using the Battery find the plug that has 12-16 wires coming from it, this will be the speaker out loom.

Using the Battery touch the terminals on the plug until you hear a faint pop coming from the speaker connected to that wire, now make a note.

when you have identified each speaker make up some extender cables with flat pin crimps on the end and push them onto the loom.

You will then need to connect those wires to an ISO plug (can be bought from halfords) and then you just need the arial etc to connect.

Saves a lot of time

Seems a bit underpowered for your speakers eh? I'm guessing your speakers can handle at least 120W RMS .... I mean, its ok for sure. But you may just find that you wont get much bass from the 4 speakers. The high's will be clear enough tho. I guess since you are installing a sub too, it wont matter so much.

I'm just a bit worried that you will have a ton of bass from the sub, and loud highs on your speakers, but not enough in the mid range (band pass range). You may hear some separation here, unless you turn it up real loud and tune down the treble. If I were you, with that price (200 euros), I'd get a higher power sony xplod amp. you can then take more advantage of your speakers at similar price.
