Parcel Shelf Brake Light

Hello all,

This is my first post so hopefully I've done it correctly...

I have just bought myself a pukka IS200SE navigator (2 weeks ago) and my first mods were some nice shiny 18" rims and a nice tidy rear spoiler.

Becase my spoiler has an integrated brake light I want to remove the one that is on the parcel shelf.

Can anybody please tell me how I can take it off and disconnect it without causing any damage?

Thanks in advance.

it unclips from the parcel shelf, but if your new spoiler has LED lights you will need to put a resistor into the connection for the parcel shelf rear light otherwise you will get a brake light warning on the dash

Thanks for the replies.

I presume it unclips from above the parcel shelf? i.e. it needs to be pulled quite firmly? I thought it may have been attached with a clip on the under side (in the boot maybe).

Thanks for the tip about the resistor (spoiler lights are LEDs). What size resistor would I need?

I may just black the parcel shelf brake light out so it is still functional but not visible.....

Thanks

It unclips, but it's a bit of a sod. You won't want to remove it, just disconnect it, as it will leave a big hole behind otherwise!

Hello Mate,

Sitting in the rear seat facing the rear of the car, pull the unit towards you and jiggly it about and it should unclip with plenty of coersion.

I just fitted a M3 lip spoiler with LED and wired them so they both work!

I think they look great together :winky:
