Chargebacks By Cc Companies

Sold a set of HID's to a guy through my on line shop on 25/10/2006.

Straightforward transaction never had any further contact with him.

Got an email today from worldpay (who deal with my cc payments) saying customer disputes the transaction and they will be debiting my account !

Surely there must be a time limit on any claims ?

Seems unfair that worldpay make me wait 6 weeks before sending me the dosh then 3 months later can take it back !

Yes does seem unfair,

If it is a fraud then Worldpay should have somesort of insurance to absorb the loss.

Unless there was an error on the part of the merchant (you) and you did everything you should have then Worldpay should take the loss

but what's the basis of his dispute?

he ordered goods, paid for them and received them.

is he maybe disputing the transaction because he didn't recognise the description of the transaction on his statement or something?

Who was it Dave, just wondering if you should name and shame him as potentially other people on here could deal with him in the future and have the same thing happen to them.

Years ago I bought a load of stuff from Japan which never turned up, after ages I won the dispute and got my money back, about 6 months later everything turned up as it was supposed to be, no idea what happened there but when I tried to contact the seller his address bounced anyway!

guy contacted me today...felt sorry for him. it was his dads CC and his dad had had a stroke before the transaction and forgot giving his son permission to buy the HID kit.

His father is writing to cc company to say all is OK.

Not a memebr on here (to my knowledge if i knew they were would not have posted !)

Ah right ok, I take that back then, not sure what will happen there, hope his dad's doing ok anyway, amazing how much damage a stroke can do to the mind.

Sounds like it's all going to be ok anyway, but like you say, it's worrying how easily Worldpay and Paypal can just take money back from something like this!
