Brake Discs For Is200.. Help Please

Recommended Posts

OEM are fine, Mintex are good, Prolex and TDi do uprated discs.

Mintex pads are very good.

Spending money on stopping is never wasted money, is up to you.

I have Prolex's Grooved discs with Mintex pads all round and im very happy and confident with there stopping power.

thats the discs i have, I would think the type of pads wouldn't matter.

I payed more but i got front and backs along with pads at the same time.

back

you could always email Dave (prolex) and double check, to put your mind at rest.

after about 250 miles of bedding in I noticed a good initial bite when braking.

Not really had the right weather to push the car hard and see how good they are.

Let us know how you get on, Hope your as happy with them as what i was with mine :D

  • 4 weeks later...

hello..

i have fitted the Prolex's Grooved discs with Mintex pads (Fronts) and about a week of getting it fitted it started to squeal when braking e.g lightly pressed not sure if its the mintex pads that doing the squeal.. does anybody think i should change the pads back to my OEM ones? annoying me a little bit with the squeal!

any suggestion?

chamfer the end of the pad material , apply copper slip to the back of the pads nad check the anti squeal shim is fitted correctly and apply copper slip to the area where the pad locates into the caliper.

I've got Mintex pads on my Escort Cosworth - they squeak (only quietly) and on asking around it's quite normal apparantly. Not sure about the Lex though...

How much of a noise is it? Mine is the kind of noise you would get from a wheel bearing that is only just beginning to go.
