Recommended Posts

i am installing an invertor for ps2 and would like to keep it in the boot, any one knows if there is a suitable supply in the boot area as i dont want to run leads through the car to the ciggy lighter

im looking at a 300w 240v supply and am not sure how much 12v power this needs

Most of the cables etc that are in the boot area are for the rear lights, a few of us are running extra lights in the back but that is only 0.8 A extra.

It should state on the invertor the supply requirements somewhere??? I have forgotten my electrical law so cant work it out for you.

I have (and would do) run a switched power cable thru the car from the Battery, there is a grommet behind the Battery, so the cable comes down behind the passenger kick panel and it is an easy job to run the cable under the carpet retaining strip by the edge of the doors, just pull it up. There are many holes behind the rear seat for access to the boot area too. Would suggest using a circuit breaker on the circuit also or a plain fuse would do as well.

Any more Q's feel free to ask away!

Fluff's dead right - there is no way there is going to be a supply in the boot already there (30A + at full load assuming 90% efficiency).

300w is high - wouldn't a 150w invertor do the job?

Either way, I'd suggest following his advice.

Your best hope (apart from running a feed from the front) is that the loom is pre-wired for tow-bar electrics and has a heavy supply already - I don't know if it is or not, but someone on here or a dealer will.
