Are they swirl marks from polishing or scratches from things rubbibg against car?

If it's swirl marks ... Halfords do a product that's about £12 a bottle can't remember name ( but it's a blus thicky liquid ) it's fairly hard going doing a bit at a time ... but works. I'll find out the name ( got some in the garage !! ).

If it's scratches try GS27 ... also Halfords ... and other places .... about £10.

With anything like this try it in a fairly hiiden place to make sure it is compatible with your paint ( thin .. ).....

As Johnny boy suggested, try some Meguiars, they do a product called scratch x which is made for removing light scratches and swirl marks, I haven't tried it myself but am told it does the job very well.

I have this stuff if you want to try it at MMM Mat.....? ;)

I used Mer polish to get some pretty big scratches off my old car bonnet (left the handbrake off by accident and it rolled into a tree - branches hurt bonnet) - :o :o

Give it a nice rub and should be ok. - :D :D

very interesting thread B)

I have a light scratch on the boot, which I wouldn't mind getting rid of.

But I also have a nasty, quite large mark on the bonnet.

On New Years Eve we were driving back from her sisters, and someone threw a firework at the car.

This left a black burnt on section which "chipped" off quite easy the following day.

But also left a large white, very sticky, "gunky" residue, which we could only get off using a kitchen scourer (I know, I know :crybaby: - don't try this at home people)

We were very careful, and only used very light touches to get it off, but clearly metallic blue paint (and Lexus paint at that) and kitchen scourers do not mix - so have quite a large area of swirling to get rid of.

Once I stop this ridiculous mileage (nearly 1k miles last week :( ) then I will look into this Scratch X etc stuff - I had been persuing a quote from Lexus for touch up.
