Toyota Servicing Lexus

Recommended Posts

My local Toyota dealer said they could service my GS300 with no problems, and gave me a quote of around £285 for a 100K service.. although I doubt that would include the timing belt..

I have a guy in Sheffield who serviced my 626GT for many years, and although he is a Mazda trained specialist, I would have no hesitation in using him to service the GS.. I trust him totally.... and would be way less than the Toyota dealer anyway..

Lexus Derby seem to work the same way with their workshop. Plus, if you order parts from Lexus, you have to go over to the toyota showroom to pic them up or pay for them if you use plastic to pay.

Wouldn't bother.

Just had my RX400h serviced at 1 yr/10,000 miles by Lexus Canterbury. Total cost £128.69. Two days later had my Toyota Aygo (1 litre) serviced at 1yr/10,000 miles at Motorline Ashford (official Toyota dealer). Total cost £137.05!

Lexus has the BBC on TV, whereas Toyota has Sky!! Enjoy the upmarket facilities.

any particular garage in Sheffield? im due my 110k service :whistling:

back on topic, like wise as someone else has mentiond, the Lexus ?& Toyota garages are opposite in Sheffield. More oftenthat not i've been sent across to the Toyota garage to pick up bits n bobs, they seem to have a larger service bay there

Hi Lionel. ^_^

The garage is Nick Clulee, Prospect road, Heeley..

Although a Mazda specialist, he does work on any brand of car..

I have recommended Nick's services through the mx6.com club for years, and have had people come from as far as London and the south east for work doing..

The prices down south seem to be much higher, and even taking the fuel costs into consideration, it has still been cheaper to go to Nick.

The only "downside" is that he is not far from the Blades :whistling:

As most (if not all) motor dealerships are franchised and many are franchisees for more than one marque then its possible that techs move around between different "sites" (although often only next door :) ) although I'm guessing that to service a particular marque they should have received the appropriate training/qualification for that vehicle.

They also often combine their parts stores and payment facilities since they are the same company and it makes sense (can reduce cost).

Remember you are actually paying the franchisee for services they have provided as a company in their own right - not Lexus/Toyota or any other manufacturer.....and thats where most earn their cash......

Back on topic - I suppose a Lexus stamp in the book is always going to be worth a little more than a Toyota one when it comes to resale value - but depends on how old your car is in the first place and how long you intend to keep the car......

I agree Mark...

One Mazda dealer (pure Mazda) sold out to JCT600, and then became a multi franchise dealer... I still went there to buy the odd parts, but found it very disturbing to see "Rover Mechanics" working on Mazda's.... and now Jeep/Chrysler.
