Has anyone owned both a manual and an auto IS200? Is the auto really almost 2 seconds slower than the manual to 60?

I'm about to get my third IS200 SE auto. Somehow, I've never got around to driving a manual. It never really seems as though it takes 11.2 seconds to reach 60 mph though! Performance has always been perfectly fine for my purposes.

Same here - I'll actually time it now though. I've not had much experience of the manual (about a week or so) and I couldn't tell that much difference.

I have driven both and must admit that the manual does feel quicker, but that is probably because you are actually 'driving' it!!! I would not change back to manual now though - too used to the cruise control!

I've timed my 200SE Auto at a shade under 11s from 0-60, but it was very 'un-scientific'! Seems quick enough tho.... except when there's other cars around! I'm constantly reminded that every Ford Focus & Vauxhall Astra in the country can out-pace me, particularly in the mid-range (e.g. 50-70mph) but then it's a price you pay for one of the silkiest smooth rides around. :) Ok, ok, so I'm chopping it in for a '300 but the 200 Auto is still a lovely car B)

Unfortunately I don't smoke a pipe, but I'd love to know where I can get some tartan slippers tho! :P

I have currently got an auto as a loaner. Bearing in mind that it has only done 3000 miles it feel much slower compared to my manual, especially through first and second gear. They are much longer and the acceleration is slower. How many forward gears does the auto have, 4?

I'll be checking out cruise control tonight if the A34 is clear enough for me to engage it.
