Is It Just My Is200?

Recommended Posts

Not sure if all IS200's are supposed to do this, but when i move my steering wheel left or right my car revs to 1000rpm or just above - every time :duh:

My car has an idling problem anyway (see High Idle thread)

Can anyone shed any light?

It's not normally that pronounced - the steering uses power from the engine (power steering :)) thus when stationary, to move the wheels takes more effort, thus the ECU makes the engine idle slightly higher to compensate. Same with aircon which you might have on, which has even more of an effect in combination.

This is a fairly normal thing on other cars as well.... All my previous BMW's used to do this.... I thought it was a strange thing but was told its just the p/s pump drawing power from the engine.... Lexus may be different as I'm only just learning about them...
