Hi guys.

Been a while since I last posted.

I went to see a GS 300 recently. Set my budget to around 4k. The only thing putting me off is tax / fuel.

If I did plump for it (because I hate Gordon Brown) I was looking at getting some big stainless steel pipes on the back.

Anyone know where I would get them for this car?

The other option is to go for is200 2000 plate.

Argh desicions desicions!?

All older Lexus models tend to be in the same ballpark. You're looking at 25mpg or thereabouts in mixed driving whether you go for IS, GS or LS!

Exhaust pipes from Blitz or Apexi would be expensive. You'd have to get custom made if you wanted a cheaper price.

Best car you will ever buy in my oppinion.Iv got custom made stainless exhaust from cat back, you tell the people how noisey and at what r.p.m you want it to be.They make the back boxes there and then, very impressive.I got two boxes removed so i just have two back boxes from the cat back now,and sounds great.you even get to a choice of tail pipes, must be about 30 to pick from.Think the price was around £400 fitted.Iv got address and phone no. if you want them. The exhaust is even warrantied for the life of the car.I have some pics in my phots on here of the exhausts

hi there,

i've just bought my gs300. go for the sport option, its fully loaded etc. the value for money is excellent! i got the mk 1 and you can get some real good gems out there. go for the last batch made 1998. i picked up mine for £3500, with 65000 miles on the clock, full lexus service history! i bought mine before the new budget came out, so i will get stung when car tax day is due!! fantastic car for the price i paid. my cousin bought a merc with sports pack 55 plate. mine easily is better, and he paid 3 times as much!!

btw, my insurance was not too bad either, way cheaper than a merc or bmw!

Car tax on your car is £185. New rates don't apply to mk 1 due to being pre March 2001.
