Help Installing A Subwoofer

Recommended Posts

Hi!

So recently after I replaced my alloys i started to think about a subwoofer. I picked one out but i have a question. Is it possible to install a subwoofer with the original stereo, because i really like the look of the stereo and don't want to replace it. Also does the IS have a separate amplifier somewhere or is it connected to the radio?

Hope you can understand what i mean

thnx

if its an se or sport then it has a seperate amp in the passenger footwell..

you can wire a sub in, although very crudely, form the rear speaker wiring and an amp with a high level input or an OEM conversion module.

To tell you the truth i haven't really a clue what kind of IS i've got. I think it's the S but i'm not that sure. Might be the SE though. If it's the S then i have to take the original stereo out? correct?

The trim levels differ by country.

Ok so i've got the woofer sorted but i was wondering about how to get the best sound out of it. Is it a good idea (Possible?) to remove the ski latch and place the woofer there or should i just leave it be? Also if I remove the ski hatch, will road noise increase?

The ski hatch can easily be removed,

Either just unclip the flap or it you remove the back of the rear seats theres 8 screws (i think) that just undo and it removes.

I havent noticed an increase in road noise since removing it.
