Damn that civic type r sounds very cheap, how much are they new?

around 17k i believe

So just over 6 months and 6k miles and it's lost 30%? Blimey, definitely not a car to buy new

Always quite fancied a RX-8, for the wife obviously ;)

Not if you worried about fuel consumption!

Or oil consumption

OK here are the facts. My previous car was a Mazda RX-8 231 so I speak from first-hand experience. My overall average fuel consumption over 4 years was 17mpg (mostly 5 mile commuting). The best I ever got on a long run was 23mpg. Although this sounds pretty terrible it's not that much different from other similar performance cars. However CO2 output is high so the road tax next year will be £440.

As for oil consumption, yes it's higher than most other cars but that's because a rotary engine injects small amounts of oil onto the rotor tips and this gets burnt off. Once the engine is run in, average oil consumption is about 1 litre per 2000 miles. Again not brilliant, but there are plenty of piston engine cars around that use as much oil.

As far as it being a womans car, the vast majority of owners are men.

I love my Lexus IS250 but I do miss the RX-8's performance and handling particularly. :winky:
