Quite common fault, i think it's the engine heat that causes them to break,

you can get a new one from a Lexus dealer .... part no. has been posted up before, i'll have a look

EDIT; 53455-53010 is the part no. cost around 15 pounds

They break cos people don't know how to use them. Honest !!

I know because I broke mine with 2 months of having the car :shutit:

When you get another new or secondhand, place your thumb on the raised ridged piece (right hand), and pull with your fingers

directly towards the front edge of the bonnet. NOT down towards the engine bay. Do it that way and it breaks :tsktsk:

Maybe but i think the high temperatures in the engine bay effect the properties of the plastic over the years and makes them easier to break....

take mine for instance.... opened the bonnet one day to find it broken all by it's self :(

I'd have to agree with you. The rocker cover plastic trim (the one that fits around the oil cap and has VVTI printed on it) has gone all brittle and has started to crumble due to the engine heat on my car (car has 110k on the clock). Just bought a new OEM replacement rocker cover plastic trim from eBay. Will fit it on the weekend.

Btw: Does anyone know how much these plastic rocker covers costs from the dealer?

you should just replace the stick with a set of bonnet lifters from Prolex uk.

Stav

or buy some from Maz for £10-15 that fit perfectly and will be next weeks mod :winky:

Who ?

What?

Where?

cheers :)
