Engine Management Light

iv just noticed the engine managment light is on, the fault code is as follows:

P0420 CATYLYST SYSTEM EFFIENCY (BANK 1) BELOW THRESHOLD

iv had it cleared a few times but it keeps proping up, can anyway shed any light here please on how to get rid of it permanantly

You might needa new 02 sensor mate

ok iv removed bulbs from dashboards before and had bad experience where the dials have dropped off lol.....how easy is it to take bulb out of engine management light on the IS? has anyone tried or done it before? the car runs perfect, its just that light thats doing my head in lol

you will find that the bulb is lit for a reason, if it is on there is a fault and needs fixing.

The Lexus is not like your renault or ford where you get bulbs coming on for the hell of it..

You have found the code so all you need to do is fix it. don't ignore it or take the bulb out as the fault will not go away it will get worse!!!!!! :whistling:

quickest thing to do if its running ok, remove the bulb :)

Sorry but that advice is absurd. The ECL would then no longer work for a more important fault.

If he did as you suggest, are you going to pay for any expensive repairs that are needed in the

future if your advice gets followed ?

Get the part replaced (agree with Gord & Stav) and job done Sam.

BTW the ECL is on a printed circuit board. I would in no way play with it unless you want an even bigger bill.
