Hello,

I want to connect my Ipod to my GS200 Mk2 original radio/cassette/CD player. I've tried the cassette type connectors and also the type where a radio transmitter is fitted to the Ipod, both types perform very poorly. Can anyone please help with advice on hard wiring a suitable connector (USB preferred)?

Thanks for the link - I was going to ask the same question. Just had a look on that website though and I honestly don't understand a single word. Seriously, it may as well be written in amazon Tribal Tongues because none of it made sense.

I want a cable or a slot fitted to a MK2 GS300 so that an Ipod or Iphone can be plugged in to the existing audio system.

a) is that possible?

B) how much is it?

c) who will do it?

d) what is the capital of Macedonia?

Please ignore d)

Thanks P4UL T,

I appreciate your help, however I see that the devices are suitable for models from 2001 onwards, mine is a bit older, but knowing that such devices are available off the shelf is a positive step in the right direction.

Thanks also Breezeblock, I too would be a bit skeptical of sending off to the US and getting something that may or may not be quite suitable. I was hoping somebody would know where on my unit to solder in a couple of wires.

Clive

P.S. The capital of Macedonia is Skopje, I was last there in late 2002 on my way from Belgrade to Pristina.

I don't know if apple do a FM transmitter for the IPOD but I have a Sony phone and I use a plug in radio transmitter with it. Find yourself a blank FM station and you can play your tunes without having to do anything to the car. Works very well on my Mk2.

Hi Clive.

Just wondered if you'd been able to find anything to fit the bill? I own a GS300 (2005) and want to be able to integrate my iPod to the Lexus audio system.

I've looked through the general audio section of the Lexus forum and found that some IS owners have managed to fit a GROM unit which works with their systems but I'm not sure if it also works with a GS300 audio system.

Grom units are distribuited in teh UK by http://www.carputer-shop.co.uk/index and I've sent an email asking for advice. I'll let you know if anything positive coems back.

In the meantime I have been advised by ipod carkit direct that they believe the GS300 will only accept a "modulator" - This is a sort of half-way solution whcih means you still operate your iPod/mp3 player independently but teh modualtor cuts out the aerial signal while the ipod is in use. This means you get CD quality music but you dont get to use the Lexus audio controls. Much better than FM transmitters, which I dind pretty hopeless.

See http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/iPod_Car...al_FM_Modulator

Be pleased to hear if you have found anything else.

Gerry
