Odb Ii Connector

Recommended Posts

I thought that the OBD II connector was the one in the engine compartment on the RHS, under the "Diagnostics" lid. But it looks like the wrong type of connector.

I checked the online workshop manual and it seems to show the OBDII connector inside, low down on the driver's side of the dashboard. Looking on my car though (1999 IS200 Sport) I can only see some sort of blanking plate (?) which is the right sort of size, although that is in a vertical orientation as opposed to the horizontal one that the manual appears to show.

Is it under that blanking plate and I need to prise it off somehow ? Am I looking in the wrong place ? Do I even have an OBD II connector ? :duh:

Edit - Doh ! Title is wrong, I keep typing "ODB" rather than "OBD" lol.

it's beside your right leg when your driving - underneath the dash a little bit, there's a protective cover to remove which will be what your seeing, pull that off & hey presto

The cover/blanking plate that I can see is by my left leg though. Also I can't see an obvious way to get the cover off, no latch or similar. Is that likely to be it ?
