Satnav And Cd Question

Recommended Posts

Just picked up an 08 RX400h and after a couple of days we (wife and I) really love it.

However, two very quick questions that we find annoying in the car:

1. Is there any way to make the SatNav work whilst the car is moving - i.e. at the moment we can only enter destinations when the car is nearly stationary meaning every time my wife wants to adjust locations, etc we have to stop.

2. Same thing for the CD player - to scroll through the tracks on a CD the car has to be nearly stationary.

I can understand that they are safety features to prevent the driver from messing about with SatNav when he should be driving but its annoying when there's two people in the car. Is this a default setting that can be changed or do we have to live with it?

Thanks.

Point 1 is debatable but it is interesting that its always the wives who adjust these things!

Point 2 - Never found that to be problem. You can scroll through the CDs using steering wheel controls for the tracks within a CD, and you can move onto the next CD using the buttons on the stereo. All explained in the manual.

Hi and welcome to LOC!

The first one is easy to fix, if you get the latest 08-09 nav DVD it is now possible to use the satnav while the car is moving. Actually read on here that there is a cheeky fix if you don't want to fork out for the latest DVD - ask your dealer to borrow the latest DVD to try it out, when you stick it in it will update the firmware on your nav system which will allow input in motion and apparently it remains after you put your old DVD back in.

Obviously I'm not sure if this disappears if your Battery ever goes flat or something but it's a cost effective solution. Alternatively visit www.lexus-mapupdates.eu and get yourself the latest DVD :)

Alternatively, have a look HERE as I believe this should be able to give you everything you need as well :winky:
