Wynns Engine Flush

 Share

Recommended Posts

Morning all. I'm going to do an oil change amongst other maintenance on my car this weekend, and was intending to carry out an engine flush with "Wynns " engine flush. I've just read another topic about cataclean and slick50, and was wondering if any one out there has had any problems flushing out their engines with" Wynns" I know they are completely different products, but the last thing I want to do is upset my wee car.

The guys at Charlesworth use this whenever they change oil as far as I know:

http://www.forteuk.co.uk/Advanced_formula.htm

Similar sort of thing, add it to the oil and leave the car running for a bit to thin the oil and then flush it all.

They've worked on a lot of cars from here and I've not heard of any problems.

Thanks aido. I spent a long time trawling the net, and there is a very large divide on the pros and cons. Some say it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, others warn to stay well away or risk engine damage. I think I will stick to the recommended oil change times as dictated by Lexus and leave the engine flush on the shelf.

Thanks again

Stuarty

Most Lexus dealers seem to use an engine flush. They are fine if used at every oil change. Problems arise if an engine has gone through many oil changes (with not particular good oil) and then you flush it as it loosens deposits that aren't all flushed out and oil ways get blocked. Or deposits that are blocking up any worn seals get flushed away and oil leaks start.
