Need Some Help On Modding Is200 First Time

Hello everyone just bought a 2004 IS200 sport planning on modding it never done this before. :shutit: Only the odd set of alloy wheels Were do i start was looking for a k&n filter but got told they dont make them. Also was hoping off some information about what bhp a filter would add.Also any information about turbo's , superchargers and also chips any help would be much appreciated cheers Darren (mcd3183)

You should be able to get a K&N panel filter, where were you asking?

There's not really much point getting a chip for an NA car as you don't get much in the way of gains, just straighten out the power delivery.

There aren't really any turbo kits as such, you can get a couple but I think you'll need to do some tweaking after they arrive, as for the superchargers, you can only really pick those up second hand now, I think you can still get them direct from TTE in Germany for about 4-5000 Euros?

The filter doesn't add any bhp, AFAIK, but does improve mpg slightly. Main reason I fitted a K&N panel filter is that it is a lifetime filter which does not need replacing, it just needs cleaning every so often.

For any serious bhp increase you're going to need to go down either the supercharging or turbo route. Or an engine swap. Exhausts, induction changes etc are only going to have a negligible effect on performance at best (and at worse some induction kits will actually reduce your power, e.g. if they route the intake air over the hot exhaust manifold).

I've got a K&N filter and it's great. Makes a very slightly different sound and increases mpg slightly. Maybe it increased power by 1 bhp or something but I can't imagine it makes much difference on that front.

Good luck with it all :) if im going tbh a supercharger is your best bet for the main reason how simple it is. If you want to go down the turbocharged route let me talk from experiance and say a engine convertion is best ;)
