Good evening all!

Hopefully someone can provide an answer to the problem I am finding. My 2 year old daughter needs a new car seat, and I have been looking at the Group 1/2/3 seats from Recaro, Brittax and Nania (Team Tex i think!). They were all trial fitted at my local Halfords who informed me none were any good as the buckle is too long and causes "Buckle Crunch". So we tried the group 1 seats, and found the same issue. Apparently it is a common trait among a number of car manufacturers, and I have seen a few press articles recently about incorrectly fitted child seats!

Now if Halfords did not provide this service I would of happily bought online the Recaro seat (Young Sport I think it was) and been none the wiser. But their comments on all of these seats has me worried!

Our other car has a Maxi Cosi Tobi fitted, and this does fit the IS, but we really want (and need) one for each car, rather that swap each journey. Buying another Tobi, or going down the Isofix route seems false economy at the moment as it will not be long before she is old enough and heavy enough to have a group 2/3 seat!

Now I know I probably have answered my question but I am interested to know what child seats others have in their IS250/220 and is there anywhere else that offers the Halfords service of trial fit before you buy?

Comments appreciated and many thanks in advance

Matt

PS The car is IS250SE Auto MM, 58 Reg, Leather etc, Simply the best car I have ever owned!

(Apologies if this is not the advice you're looking for.....)

My advice: don't buy another seat: kiddy seats WILL wreck the leather in your pride and joy.

Once your daughter reaches 3 - she'll be ready for a booster seat which will be much kinder on your leather.

Until then: suck it up and drive the missus' car when family are required.

Best regards,

Disgruntled parent with terrible dimples in the back seats of his Lexus

Hi Hando

I know - that is why I think I have already answered the question! It does make the best financial sense too, to wait till she is three!

At least Halfords have done the right thing - very easy for them to have sold me a £150 Recaro childs seat! Well done to them!

Anyone have the Lexus own seat? Anyone know how much they are?

Matt

We went to Mothercare who look up a chart and will only provide a car seat suitable for your car (got both the lexus & astra car seats from them). The seat we have in the astra will fit in the Lex but is not recomended as it can move.

As for the issue pointed out earlier regarding car seats messing up the leather we got a protector that ties into the headrest and then goes over the seat had no problems whatsoever a year down the line..

Would recommend Mothercare as they let you try before you buy at the store..
