Have you got a pressure washer?

I normally pressure wash my engine. I normally use an engine de-greaser (Gunk) and brush it into all the areas of the engine and blast it off with my pressure washer. If you do use a pressure washer then don't aim the water directly onto the electrics etc.

Here's my engine all clean (using a pressure washer):

To get the shine I used Halfords own brand tyre shine (sprayed the tyre shine onto a cloth) and wiped it all over the engine, plastics etc.

My IS200 is nearly 9 years and has 125k on the clock.
