Hello everyone,

Got a major issue with my Lexus.

While driving my IS200 the engine management light came on and then suddenly rev counter shot up and the car cut off. I immediately turned the key and started it up again and the same thing happened. (Revved and cut off)

After calling the RAC and getting him to drop it off at the mechanic - I was told that the diagnostic machine came with the code of P1128.

The mechanic said it was going to cost £1,000.

My Lexus is a W reg and worth approx £2-2.5k.

Any ideas on what to do or should I call the Lexus dealer ship and ask them for quotes

P1128- Throttle control motor lock malfunction.

See if you can clean the throttle- this may fix the fault? Otherwise get a 2nd hand replacement from a scrapyard/ebay etc.

Hello everyone,

Cheers for the help.

The car is on the road and is working fine.

Although I did notice that @ 120mph (er when I accidentally put my foot on the floor) the rev counter was @ 5 1/2.

I've never took any notice of the rev counter when I drove on other occasions, so not sure if this is roughly correct.

Once again thanks to "Tommy20165" who pointed me in the right direction for the part.

Cheers

Good you got it sorted and didnt cost you a grand.

Oh and i think if your in gear, the revs would match your speed cant see how they can be any different :P

120? naughty! I hit the rev limiter in 6th before :P Never again.

Have you (or the garage) ran a diagnostic machine on the car, if so did you get any other codes than P1128.

You may have codes for the "sensor" which is attached to the throttle body.

When buying the throttle body make sure that the sensors are attached (they should be 2 and screwed in - the sensors are the only thing screwed in to the throttle body)
