I have never used the parking brake on my Mk2 '93 LS400. Only had it 2 months. My drive is sloped. Should I really use the parking break, or just carry on as usual and leave the girl in "P"?????

I'm not sure how the gear lever is connected to the transmission, but I read somewhere of a situation in the states where a car rolled away because the cable between the gear lever and the tranny snapped and caused park to become disengaged.

I always use the 'hand'brake - just do it automatically. I don't like the rocking you get just leaving it in park. My wife has a Saab which you have to leave in reverse to get the key out and she hardly ever puts the handbrake on. Drives me nuts - get in the car foot on clutch to start it and the damn thing rolls away!
