Junction 25 To 28 M1 Widening

After several years the M1 Notts/Derbys area has recently gained an extra lane so we now have 4, I don't know if it is the same on other 4 lane sections of motorway but here for example lanes 1 and 2 are free and clear to use and you get someone in lane 3, undertaking is illegal so I have to move across 4 lanes if I want to overtake,then move back 4 lanes.

Is it like this everywhere?

you get the lorry lane

then the coach lane

then the "I am going to do 60mph and not change lanes" lane

then you get the "I am going to do the top speed of this car" lane

driving in Europe really shows what bad driving we have on our motorways ;)

It's not actually undertaking in the scenario you've described so you don't need to move 4 lanes to do it :)

I know what you mean though, it frustrates me no end on my regular A406 commutes.

i don't drive like a nob, but in situations like this where the person is obviously blissfully unaware i just carry on soldiering on in the inside lane at whatever speed i was doing. 9 times out of 10 there's no one for 100 feet in front and by the time you start the manouvre to overtake the next car which is driving properly, they still haven't noticed anything and are sat right where they were, only in your mirror now. used to boil my *****, now i just let it go.
