Starting When Warm Problem

I have this problem with my altezza in that it starts when it's cold and then as it warms up and reaches normal temperature it shuts itself down in that I lose power to the point that I can't drive it, but when it cools down again, it starts. I had one or two people look at it and they think it's the security system but is the the security system on an completely stock 99 altezza rs-200 that hi-tech? And this all started when the key (transponder in it) broke and I tried to start the car with the key without the transponder in it. I got the key repaired but did I damage the ecu or something? Thanks for your reponses in advance.

As far as I'm aware Altezza don't have transponder keys. Mine doesn't & I can't see any mention of a transponder in the EPC on ToyoDIY even for the later stuff (i.e. 04). Alarms were an optional accessory & you'd know if you had one as they had huge stupid remotes/fobs.

Your problem sounds like an ignition module playing up. But since the 3SGE doesn't have one as such then it wont be that. I'd see if it's putting out any fault codes. Could be a faulty ignition switch or relay?

The 1st thing as suggested is to recover any stores fault codes which may point you in the right direction, the fault is obviously heat related and one of the common things affected by heat is the crankshaft sensor and/or its wiring which would give the symptoms you have.

If the fault logs also suggests this replace it.

Why didn't I think of that? I just sold one for a Mazda the other day with the exact same problem.
